Last this past summer, I had the pleasure of interviewing a new artist from Glasgow, Scotland, Community Swimming Pool, the project of Brett McCann, also known as Bmac. You can read that here.
Now, Community Swimming Pool is back with another dream pop banger, called "Number One."
Of the tune, Bmac says, "I wrote this song in the summertime, about how my life was effectively ruined for a while by somebody who I spent five years of my life with, but then it switches to focusing on somebody else who changed my life for the better in the choruses. It's an optimistic song about looking forwards and learning to let go of my past."
"So honey take them down, all those empty mirrors," sings Bmac in the first chorus, then adding on in the next iteration to say: "So honey take them down, all those empty mirrors.
and I will try my best, to be your marble pillar." And that's where I hear the hope: hope in beautiful stability.
