Minneapolis music blog Ear Coffee and independent microlabel Good Beats Records have

partnered with a cast of DIY, emo, and indie rock artists to release a cover compilation of songs by Philadelphia band Hop Along entitled Simple Demands: A Hop Along Tribute.

Simple Demands is being released to raise funds for two charities that provide life-saving services for trans and nonbinary people, No More Dysphoria and The Jim Collins Foundation. All proceeds will be divided among these two organizations. Featured on the compilation is artists such as The Sonder Bombs, Maybe Hazel, and more.

In January, Hop Along vocalist and guitarist Frances Quinlan came out as nonbinary via

Twitter. Founder of Good Beats Records D.H. Thomas thought a tribute to Hop Along would be a good way to both celebrate Quinlan's coming out and raise support trans and nonbinary people in need.

“It’s Pride Month and we’re currently seeing a rash of anti-trans legislation across the country that’s really disheartening,” Thomas said. “Hopefully this compilation can counteract some of these hateful political actions by supporting charities that directly help trans and nonbinary people get the medical care and support that they need while also celebrating Frances Quinlan’s prolific career and essential voice.”
